Thank You From Ronnie Carver On
Behalf of the family of SPC. Mathew Gibbs
SPC. Mathew Gibbs of the 648th Engineering
Battalion, 48th Infantry Brigade of the Georgia Army National Guard was
killed in Iraq on August 03, 2005. He was one of three soldiers killed
by a car bomb detonated near
his armored personnel carrier in Baghdad. The 21 year old soldier was
the son-in-law of Ronnie Carver of UAW Local 2188 in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Ronnie is the Maximo System Administrator for the Fitzgerald Site and
was attending the UAW Region 8 Skilled Trades Conference when word came
of their loss. Ronnie left the conference and headed home. The Region
8 members at the conference took up a collection for the family of this
brave member of our military. Ronnie Carver would like to pass on along
these sentiments to his UAW brothers and sisters.
"Just wanted to take a moment to thank all of the Brothers &
Sisters that attended the Skilled Trades Conf. for their kindness, thoughts
and prayers for my family during our loss. Mathew was a very special man
and leaves a very big void in our lives. But it is a great comfort to
us to know that the solidarity of the UAW extends far beyond the workplace.
Our THANKS TO ALL OF YOU, EACH AND EVERYONE! I wish I knew how to contact
each Local that was represented at the Conf. to thank them individually
but I don't all of them. If it is possible to pass this along to them
I would be in your debt."
