Region 8 Education Coordinator, Joe Rypkowski

Being a 30 year member of the UA W with 25 years of union activism, Joe brings the experiences from a variety of Local Union elected and International Staff positions to the education role. Joe's membership tenure began at Local 22 and the Cadillac Motor Car Division in Detroit where he served the membership as a Skilled Trades District Committeeman, Skilled Trades Convention Delegate and Constitutional Convention Delegate. He later transferred to Local 1853 and the Saturn Corporation in Spring Hill, Tennessee where he served the membership on the bargaining committee as First Vice President, and President.

Joe joined the Region Staff in 1998 as a Servicing Representative, serving Local Unions in North and South Carolinas. Now, Joe coordinates educational opportunities throughout Region 8, committed to improving all our educational programs and events. Joe is also the Region 8 Civil Rights Coordinator, the liaison to the Women's Councils and Veteran's Councils.
