Davis Receives
Walter P. Reuther Distinguished Service Award

On December 03, 2007 Local 2195 member and Region 8 Webmaster John Davis received the Walter P. Reuther Distinguished Service Award from the International Union. John Davis has been the editor and webmaster for Local 2195 for almost 17 years and is the UAW Region 8 Webmaster. Davis is the UAW Region 8 Local Union Press Association Board Member and is the Chairperson of the Board.

The Walter P. Reuther Distinguished Service Award is the highest honor that is presented by the International UAW. Past recipients include former UAW President Doug Frazer and Former Detroit NAACP President the Reverend Wendell Anthony.

UAW Region 8 Director Gary Casteel and Region 8 Assistant Director Donny Bevis nominated Davis for the award. “John always answers the call when he is needed by this union,” Director Casteel stated. “John’s service exemplifies what a union member should be.”

The award was presented at the Region 8 Christmas Dinner on December 03, 2007. “I am honored and humbled by this award,” Davis states. “Walter Reuther was a great American, union member and humanitarian. It is an honor to accept an award named after him.”
