Region 8 marches against School of the Americas

Region 8’s involvement in opposing the School of Americas has grown steadily.
This past November’s rally saw more members marching at Fort Benning as word spreads and more people learn about the atrocities occurring in our own backyard.

Marching were: Local 10 members Sharon Guilford, retiree Herb Butler, and Chip Slaughter, who is also the Georgia CAP Council chairman ; Georgetta Paulin, Bo Marlow and Bobby Shields, all of Local 171; members from Local 882; Harvey Durham, Local 1621; Brad Pope, Local 2069, Yolanda Swift, Local 1853, Christopher Kelley, Local 2276; Sanchioni Butler, Local 3036 and UAW staff Rick England, Sam McDowell, Tom Savage, and Larry Steele.

Local 10 charted a bus to carry the Region 8 delegation from Doraville, Ga., to Fort Benning.
Food was supplied by Georgia state CAP council that, along with the Atlanta/North Georgia Labor Council, hosted a barbecue lunch for UAW marchers from around the country.
