Region 8 helps hurricane victims

Members in Region 8 opened their hearts and their pocketbooks to assist the victims of the Florida hurricanes late last summer. Through donations and plant gate collections Region 8 locals collected $24,000, which was given to Heart of Florida United Way. The money assisted people in Orange, Seminole and Osceola Counties which were hit hard by the hurricanes. Jennifer Kenny, AFL-CIO Community Services Liaison, has seen first hand the destruction left behind. “The impact of these dollars will be instrumental in helping central Florida families regain a sense of normalcy,” Kenny said.
