Rally For BOSK Workers Held In Kentucky
A rally for the workers at the BOSK Battery plant was held at Elizabethtown, Kentucky on July 21, 2025. Workers there are currently in the middle of an organizing drive to join the UAW. The plant which was completed last year, is a joint venture between Ford and SK to build batteries for Ford EVs. Region 8 Director Tim Smith and Assistant Director were on hand to lend support to these workers fighting for union representation.
In January a supermajority of the workers at BOSK filed for a UAW election, demanding safer working conditions, the affordable health care they were originally promised, and a voice on the job. Since that time, Ford and SK have launched an antiunion campaign to prevent the workers from organizing.
“We are here to tell the workers at BOSK the UAW is here for you and we aren’t going away,” stated UAW Region 8 Director Tim Smith. “The people telling lies to the workers will be gone once the drive is over. They are here to prevent the workers from having a voice. The UAW has your back and we will be here for you now and in the future. “These BOSK workers are brave as hell, for they stood up and organized because they want what everyone deserves — a safe job and a voice at work. Battery jobs are growing fast here in Kentucky, but they should be good, safe union jobs — not jobs where workers get hurt and silenced. We need a fair shot to vote without the company trying to rig the outcome. Elected leaders can’t look the other way while this industry grows — they need to have workers’ backs because we do.”
UAW members from across Kentucky were on hand, including the Kentucky Alliance for Retired Americans members who made the trip to Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
Early in July, UAW Vice President and Director of the Ford Department Laura Dickerson stated “Ford knows better. For over 80 years, Ford workers have had a union and a voice. But at BOSK, they’re doing everything they can to stop these workers from having the same thing. You can’t have a fair vote when the company is flooding the plant with fear and propaganda.” |
