West Virginia and South Central Pennsylvania CAP Meeting

The West Virginia State and South Central Pennsylvania State CAP recently conducted their Spring CAP Meeting in Wheeling, West Virginia. In addition to meeting on legislative issues, the group also put time in on a community project.

The West Virginia State CAP Council and South-Central Pennsylvania State CAP Council collaborated with the Wheeling Heritage Foundation for cleanup of the Walter Ruether Memorial Monument. In 2006, the UAW installed a memorial statue to President Walter Reuther along the River Walk in Wheeling. Since that time, Region 8 has worked to maintain the memorial site.

“This year we came together to pull up weeds and overgrowth, power wash the monument, clean place cards, trim bushes, put down fresh mulch and plant new spring flowers,” states Region 8 CAP Representative Anthony Towner. “What an honor it is to be a participant in this tradition.  This task could not have been completed without the help of:

  • Mark Dowell – Region 8 CAP Rep
  • Jim Rogers – Retired Region 8 CAP Rep and now WV PAC
  • Bill Panebaker – SC PA State CAP
  • Will Panebaker – SC PA State CAP
  • Jeff Neiderer – SC PA State CAP
  • Brian Aaron – WV State CAP
  • Vanessa Banks – WV State CAP
  • Lacy Hockman – WV State CAP
  • Scott Schenerlein – Executive Director of the Wheeling Heritage Foundation.

Thanks to everyone who participated.
