Organize! Organize! Organize!
by LUPA 3520/Jeff Hicks

Members of the UAW Organizing Staff out of Detroit and members of UAW locals in the State and adjoining states; flocked to Local3250, to learn valuable skills needed to organize current plants and future plants. The Drive is sparked by the Current Thomasville Bus situation, a Decertification has been filed with the NLRB, and the UAW is trying to prevent the Decertification. With extra help and staff from Locals around the Thomasville area, this may be prevented. The Members learned how to talk to prospective members and the values of having a Union in your facility.

The training will be a good starting point for all the other Locals to get in their plants and boost membership; because times are rough now and Corporate America is dragging the Working Class down. The Members at the training sessions knows the importance of having a Union, now it is their turn to convince others. Most of the members at this training comes from strong Union backgrounds and know that the Union is about the only way to go in today’s workplaces.

The Members found out that organizing is not for the faint hearted or shy individuals. You have to face some tough tactics and Anti Union fronts; but through this training, the International Staff showed the Members how to get through the Barriers. Jerry Hucks from Local 3520, has been on the Trail before and shared some of his experiences with the group. Being Union since the age of 18 and having to convince his own parents about the Union, Jerry will be a valuable asset to the Cleveland area and the Thomasville Bus Campaign. With members like these, Locals in NC and the South, may be on the right track of Saving American Jobs.

Remember a Union Member cares about their workplace and future, a Non- Member is just satisfied and will take just about anything the Boss feeds them.
